Other Characters: Glimmer
Interests: Despite how much she hates it, political intrigue would be great for Eliette. Would also love to dig into magical stuff and research. SHe's also a way for me to give myself a crash course in DA lore because hoo boy I know very little

CHARACTER

Name: Eliette Tolbert
Canon/OC: Local OC
Journal: [personal profile] collegegirl
Race: Human
Nationality: Orlais
Occupation: Circle Mage
Division: Research (?)
Mage or Not: Yes
Age: 28

History

  • Born to a family of nobility in Orlais, the Comte Tolbert Fernand and his wife, Adrienne

  • Grew up being educated and raised as one would expect. Being prepared to take part in the Great Game, learning how to ride, to have good manners, be poised and graceful and generally just be a good little noble.

  • Magical ability manifests at age 12

  • Life turned upside-down as she is whisked away to the Circle of Montsimmard to be taught.

  • It's not exactly easy, but she manages to make something of herself and harnesses her magical abilities

  • Resents her family for being willing to send her away, even if it's the only choice they had. Hasn't had contact with her mother, father, or any of her siblings since.

  • Threw herself entirely into her studies of magic and trying to perfect her magical ability, if only because it was a way to prove herself. This turned into genuine interest and she will happily babble about magic to anyone who wants to listen.

  • Went through her Harrowing at age 19 and succeeded in proving herself.

  • Though not interested in politics broadly, she was an open member of the Libertarians and believes that Mages should be allowed self-rule rather than being controlled and watched over by the Chantry. Had mild Resolutionist sympathies, though she never acted openly on them until things went a bit crazy.

  • Joined the majority of mages in walking out and voted for Mage independence.

  • Fought in the Mage-Templar War until the Inquisitor put a stop to that and recruited her to the Inquisition to fight the Tevinter instead. She's spent the last six or seven years working for the Inquisition, mostly fighting in the war with occasional forays into research and a bit of diplomacy.

  • Volunteered to move from Inquisition to Riftwatch, feeling a bit burned out on the whole war thing. Maybe she can tuck her nose in some books for a little while, or at least learn something about all these weirdos coming through the Rifts?

Personality

-Obsessive

Opinions & Affiliations

  • Ardent proponent of Mage independence from Templar control

  • Likes the Inquisition, if only for de facto stopping the war.

  • Dislikes the Circle loyalists and Vivienne, but understands where they come from. The Circles were safe, in their own way, and being on your own with all this power can be terrifying. Unfortunately, the Circle Mages are also moral cowards in her eyes.

  • Wouldn't piss on a Templar if he was on fire.

  • Dalish Elves are weird.

  • Sympathetic to nobility because that's how she grew up

  • Rifters are mysterious and odd, but she finds them fascinating.

Strengths & Weaknesses

-Good at Forces, not so good at Spirit or Healing.

Inventory

Please list any notable objects your character will be bringing with them. This doesn't have to be exhaustive, but weapons, magical objects, and items with plot importance must be listed if you plan to use them in the game.

Motivation

What brings your character to Riftwatch? This can be as brief as "he's got a sliver of weird magic in his hand he'd like Riftwatch to deal with" or "he wants to help," though more complex reasons are welcome, and shouldn't be more than 200 words.

SAMPLES

Please provide 2 samples. It doesn't matter if they're written or linked and we don't care if you prefer brackets or normal punctuation, but at least one of your samples must take place in the game world, and at least one must be a log rather than network tags (or their setting-appropriate equivalent). They can be of any length, as long as taken together they provide a good sense of your character and your writing ability. If we feel they aren't sufficient, we'll ask you for more.
